AGM · साधारण सभा: Annual General Meeting: yearly meeting of shareholders where dividends and other decisions are approved.
Allotment · बाँडफाँड: Shares given to IPO applicants after the lottery.
ASBA · रकम रोक्का गरी आवेदन: Application Supported by Blocked Amount: your IPO money is blocked in your bank, not taken, until allotment.
Bearish / Bullish · घट्ने / बढ्ने धारणा: Bearish: expecting prices to fall. Bullish: expecting prices to rise.
BOID · डिम्याट नम्बर: Your 16-digit Demat account number (Beneficial Owner ID).
Bonus share · बोनस शेयर: Free extra shares given to shareholders from company profits. The share price adjusts down proportionally.
Book closure · बुक क्लोज: The date the company fixes who is eligible for a dividend, bonus or right share. You must own the share before it.
Book value · बुक भ्यालु: Company's net worth (assets minus liabilities) divided by the number of shares.
Broker / TMS · धितोपत्र दलाल / TMS: Licensed stockbroker and its Trade Management System, used to buy and sell shares.
Capital gains tax (CGT) · पुँजीगत लाभ कर: Tax on the profit when you sell: 10% if held 1 year or less, 7.5% if held longer (Budget 2083/84).
CDSC · सिडिएससी: CDS and Clearing Ltd: keeps Demat records, runs MeroShare and the IPO lottery, and settles trades.
Circuit (upper/lower) · अपर / लोअर सर्किट: When a share hits its daily limit of +15% or −15%.
Collateral · धितो रकम: Money you load to your broker so you can buy shares.
CRN · सिआरएन नम्बर: The number your bank gives you to apply for IPOs through ASBA.
Debenture · ऋणपत्र: A loan you give to a company for a fixed interest; it is not ownership like a share.
Demat account · डिम्याट खाता: Electronic account that holds your shares.
Dividend · लाभांश: Part of company profit paid to shareholders, as cash or bonus shares.
DP · निक्षेप सदस्य: Depository Participant: a bank or broker that opens and runs your Demat account.
EDIS · इडिआइएस: Electronic Delivery Instruction Slip: approval in MeroShare to transfer shares you sold.
EPS · प्रति शेयर आम्दानी: Earnings per share: net profit divided by the number of shares.
FPO · थप सार्वजनिक निष्कासन: Further Public Offering: an already-listed company selling more shares to the public.
Index (NEPSE) · नेप्से परिसूचक: A number that shows the overall movement of the market.
IPO · प्राथमिक सार्वजनिक निष्कासन: Initial Public Offering: a company selling shares to the public for the first time.
Kitta · कित्ता: One share (unit).
LTP · अन्तिम कारोबार मूल्य: Last Traded Price: the price of the most recent trade.
Market capitalisation · बजार पुँजीकरण: Share price multiplied by the number of shares: the market value of the whole company.
MeroShare · मेरोशेयर: CDSC's online system to see your shares, apply for IPOs and approve EDIS.
Mutual fund · सामूहिक लगानी कोष: A fund that pools many people's money and invests it in many shares, managed by professionals.
NAV · खुद सम्पत्ति मूल्य: Net Asset Value: the value of one mutual fund unit.
P/E ratio · मूल्य आम्दानी अनुपात: Price divided by EPS: how many years of current profit you pay for the share.
PBV · मूल्य र बुक भ्यालु अनुपात: Price divided by book value.
Promoter share · संस्थापक शेयर: Shares held by the company's founders; often locked for a period and traded separately.
Prospectus · विवरणपत्र: Official document a company publishes before an IPO, describing its business and plans.
Right share · हकप्रद शेयर: Offer to existing shareholders to buy new shares, usually at a discount.
ROE · इक्विटीमा प्रतिफल: Return on Equity: profit divided by shareholders' equity; shows how well the company uses your money.
SEBON · धितोपत्र बोर्ड: Securities Board of Nepal: the regulator of the share market.
Settlement (T+2) · फर्स्यौट: Shares and money are exchanged two working days after the trade.
Stop-loss · स्टप लस: A price where you plan to sell to limit your loss.
Turnover · कारोबार रकम: Total value of shares traded in a day.
Volume · कारोबार परिमाण: Number of shares traded.
